Types of paper commonly used for printing

Paper can be divided into: white cardboard, gray board, copper paper, offset paper, corrugated paper, special paper, writing paper, kraft paper, newsprint.


① White cardboard:

It is a thick, strong paper with a large gram weight. The surface of this paper is smooth, calendered and has a high stiffness.

Characteristics: Single-layer or multi-layer combined paper made entirely of bleached chemical pulping and fully sizing, generally more than 150g/㎡.

The cardstock is characterized by high smoothness, good stiffness, clean appearance and good evenness.

Common gram weight: white cardboard gram weight of 200, 250, 300, 350, 400 grams are more commonly used.

Pros: Thick enough, hard enough. The same number of grams of paper in the card hardness is very high. People who like thick cards will love this paper. Color is no less convenient than coated paper, but also very colorful. Writing on the reverse side is easy to erase immediately. The medium price is the best choice for postcard paper selection. Cost-effective, the price is in the middle.

Disadvantages: It is easy to scratch, from printing to writing, daily contact is very easy to scrape the front is very ugly, generally high-grade cardstock will be covered with film to prevent scratching. Special black, dark light touch will be marked. And it can't be undone. The south wind day is easy to change the curl, generally the front want to arch up.

white cardboard is divided into A, B, C three grades in China. The whiteness of A is not less than 92%, B is not less than 87%, and C is not less than 82%

② Grey board paper:

It is produced from a kind of recycled paper. The products are divided into single gray, double gray, all gray, which belongs to environmentally friendly packaging materials.

Packaging boxes, advertising boards, folders, photo frame backboard, luggage, hardcover books, storage boxes, samples, lining boards, partitions, etc.


③ Coated paper:

Coated paper is  known as coated paper and coated printing paper,It's also  known as powder paper in Hong Kong and other regions.  It is a high-grade printing paper made of base paper coated with white paint. The paper surface is smooth, the whiteness is high, the paper fiber distribution is uniform, the thickness is consistent, the scalability is small, the elasticity is good and the water resistance and tensile properties are strong, the absorption and reception of the ink is very good.

Common classification: coated paper has single-sided coated paper, double-sided coated paper, dull coated paper, cloth coated paper. According to the quality is divided into A, B, C three grades.

Common gram weight: The number of grams of coated paper is.70, 80, 105, 128, 187, 200, 230, 250, 300, 400, 450 grams.

Advantages: the color is very bright, the paper is very color absorbing, the color reduction is high, it is used for photos, landscapes, and some postcards with rich colors, and it can be covered with film, and it is more comfortable after the film is covered, and the original material of the paper is smooth and also has a texture

Disadvantages: The handwriting should not be dry, because it is too smooth, so what is written with a pen, pen (gel pen) is easy to be erased, and the postmark and seal will be erased immediately. Compared with the same number of grams of paper, the hardness is medium, not hard. The price is low. ② offset paper:

Also known as Daolin paper, offset printing paper, double-adhesive paper, etc., is made of bleached chemical coniferous wood pulp and an appropriate amount of bamboo pulp, and is coated with rubber material on both sides of the paper. Double-sided coating material or calenderness, with small scalability, uniform absorption of ink, good smoothness, compact opaque texture, good whiteness, strong water resistance and other characteristics, mainly for lithography (offset) printing presses or other printing presses to print more advanced color prints used.

Characteristics: It is a relatively advanced book printing paper, which has higher requirements for the ratio, expansion rate and surface strength during printing, and the acid-base should also be close to neutral or weakly alkaline.

Common gram weight: Daolin paper gram weight of 70, 80, 100, 120 grams are more commonly used.

Advantages: Daolin paper has small scalability, uniform absorption of ink, good smoothness, compact opaque texture, good whiteness, and strong water resistance.
